An interesting dicussion in the Lordz-forum.

Ziethen a écrit:I loved the games back in the good old days when FiM was forbidden. But it just worked when experienced and honest players were fighting each other.
Alot players (especially new ones) are overstrained by the FiM rule.

The only possible solution to limit fire in melee is to change the no blocks rule.
4 rows deep are to much!

With just 2 1/2 or 3 rows the fire in melee would be so powerful anymore.

    Fire in melee Fim4rowscg1
4 rows - just the first row has to fight and cant shot
4-1= 3 shooting rows = it wont broke even if heaviely attacked

    Fire in melee Fim3rowsse3
    3-1= 2 shooting rows

    Fire in melee Fim2rowsfg4
2-1= 1 shooting rows (2second unit as reserve, 1st unit will break easier but the 2nd unit will may hold)

Well, to be honest, after having played 1 000 ntw2 games and spend 2 years on it, i think that the best possible rule against melee shooting is GM ON with max 4 ranks deep infantry units. The true problem is much more the experience level of individual players.
If you're new to ntw2, it is almost unavoidable to make mistakes.
Moreover, when you shoot with an infantry unit which has guard mode enabled, only the none hand to hand fighting soldiers will shoot as depicted in your pictures.

Just save yourself the headache and uninstall NTW2.  March is only 2 months away anyway.

As I told you can't prevent FIRE IN MELEE. But 3 rows will weak the FIRE IN MELEE effect.

Who can play with 4 rows lines can as easy form 3 rows lines. This solution is easy communicate and makes the gameplay a bit bit better. IMHO

    So please support my suggestion.

As long as it's not manual fim I don't mind...what I really hate is the use of stacking lines of inf behind and on top of one another with all firing.
This is just the same as a shooting block of biblical proprtions :pirat:

Let's hope ETW sorts out the FF thing properly..

    "FIM of biblical proportions".... Laughing

To be honest I think that etw won't solve any of our problems.
Blocks are apparently still largely in use by the AI and perhaps by the players too if we don't set rules.
Moreover, the infantry soldiers won't be fighting shoulder to shoulder... 💥
