We are pleased to bring you the first “Inside the Ships” episode, a future sister series of the popular “Inside the Tanks”. In this series, we hope to invite you on board of the most iconic vessels that made their mark in naval history. Our military specialist Richard "The Challenger" Cutland will be your guide on this and all the following trips, so make yourselves comfy and enjoy the virtual trip!
Our Wargaming Asia collaboration brings a tour & a review of the pre-dreadnought battleship Mikasa – the only pre-dreadnought, an ancestor to the Katori-class, which is still in existence. This 15,000-ton beast was the flagship of Admiral Togo. To best illustrate the rich history of this sleeping battleship we have teamed up with our Tokyo colleague Tadamasa Miyanaga, our Military Advisor for Japan.
Our special guest Tadamasa would like to add that some of the information presented in the video by himself are part of main contender theories and as such are open for discussion. If we take, for example, the gunnery theory: “There was a possibility that the Japanese used the salvo firing method developed by the British during this battle. Around the time of the Russo-Japanese War, navies around the world began evaluating the concept of firing in salvos, but the technology to make this practical was still in development”. - Although it is being refuted now, the gunnery tactics theory explained in the video was considered correct at one time.
We hope you enjoy this video, and please remember to turn on the subtitles for the full Japanese experience from Tadamasa.
